When Elena first called, she wasn’t sure.
With fear overcoming her thoughts, it left little room for hope. She had endured serious health issues during a previous pregnancy and was leaning towards an abortion. She already made a call to the clinic.
The clinic staffer told her there was no rush. “You’ve got time,” they said. “We can schedule you in a few weeks.” Their casual tone shocked her. They didn’t ask how she felt. They didn’t mention how far along she was—or that at 9 weeks, her baby already had fingers and toes. Instead, they laughed.
“It was like they didn’t even care,” Elena said. “That’s when I knew—I couldn’t go through with it.”
In the silence that followed, hope began to speak louder.
Through the support of Options United’s compassionate hotline, local pregnancy centers, and her own deepening trust in God, Elena found the strength to say yes to life. She’s now scheduled for a 3D ultrasound and has a referral to a doctor.
You could hear the joy in her voice when she said, “I’m so excited to see my baby.”
But it wasn’t an easy road.
One of her close friends told her she was being selfish to continue the pregnancy—reminding her of the stroke she had during her last delivery. But Elena, answered quietly, “God is going to take care of me.”
We encouraged her to learn about the support and resources available. There she received material support from a local pregnancy center. She also took time to pray and leaned into the hope that others offered.
